‘BTW’ EXHIBITION (2019)
Dogma. A principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true. As a Chinese Australian I have conformed to the notion of normalised whiteness. I would question whether to remain ‘the Other’ or be considered worthy of being on par with Australia’s criterion of what is to be “cool”. My work explores the loss of culture at the hands of White Australia, how i would pray to be
considered the same level and standard as my fellow White Australians and how I became prey to the system. Now that I am slowly coming to terms with my racial identity, I seek to discover my own guiding principles, set my own benchmark and follow my own dogma.
